Eating Well- Cinco De Mayo- At Cantina Rooftop

If your are a big fan of Mexican food Cinco De Mayo is one of the most fun nights in the city. So when I had the chance to preview this seasons Cantina Rooftop Restaurant space I  left with the  good idea that I like to go  back for this years celebration . Located at 605 west 48th street close to 12th avenue atop Stage 48. The space is an open area rooftop with three sections.

A bar restaurant area ,an outdoor restaurant area and a side lounge area all housed in a open air space . The official opening was April 22. Not your average cuisine, this  is a modern Mexican menu featuring , guacamole, ceviches, moletes and tacos . The guacamole at the opening was delicious and somewhat spicy which is a tasty kick of flavor. The rooftop restaurant  also serves sides like Mexican street corn and fresh tortillas made on the roof for guest to see .

Executive Chef Gonzalo Colin who is from Mexico City, and spent a tasty year traveling  in states all over Mexico to  learn the different cooking secrets of the regions and create this modern Mexican menu . “From the San Cristobal de Las Casas in the south, to Cuidad Juarez in the north, local ingredients from Mexico gave me the inspiration to create a new modern menu. I want to bring my Mexican roots from farm to table that include a variety of extended flavors, which will all be featured at Cantina Rooftop.”  Sounds great to me ! So if your are in town and looking for a chill place to have good Mexican food now and over the summer this is the place. #Datenight!
